Animoku Studio - Februar 2026

[SLV]

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 15.00 to 20.00, we invite you in Kulturni inkubator, Koroška cesta 18, Maribor, Slovenia, where our brand-new project event Animoku Studio, also organised in co-operation with MKC Maribor, will be held. There is no entry fee for this event as well, but in case of visitors under the age of 13, it is recommended that they attend the event accompanied by parents or a legal guardian.

This event represents the beginning of an entirely new project which will encompass different artistic approaches on the field of geek culture. The first event, as well as some future ones, will focus on cosplay and photography, thus all interested photographers and cosplayers are invited to collaborate. In the future, free workshops are also planned as part of the event, but for starters we wish to acquaint the visitors and interested persons with the project which is in its early stages of development.

For now, you can confirm your attendance per our E-mail address info@drustvo-animoku.si, where you can also send us questions, ideas and suggestions that could help us develop the project even further.

If you are completely new in these waters, yet it might interest you, it is important that we explain the meaning of the term “cosplay”. It is in fact a blend of the words “costume” and “play” introduced by Noboyuki Takahashi in 1983 in an article for the magazine My Anime. The colleagues from KUD Šmaug who organise the convention NMN describe cosplay as follows:

Cosplay is a creative way for fans to express their love for their favourite characters from the world of anime, films, series, games and comics.

If you ever wanted to become your favourite hero or villain, now is your chance!

Cosplayers usually sew their own costumes, make their own weapons, tools and other accessories, style their wigs, apply make-up, and turn into their favourite character for a while. Often, an attitude in accordance with the character’s is also part of the transformation.

Whether you are a veteran or a newbie costume-crafter, your mother helped sewing it, or you bought it on eBay, cosplay is not limited to age, gender nor figure. Everybody can be a cosplayer.

See you!
